Recently we have seen an increase in the amount of claims for dog related injuries.    

New data produced by the National Health Service has shown there has been an increase in hospital admissions for serious injuries from dog related incidents in England. In the past year this figure has risen 5%. A shocking figure is that one in six of these dog related incidents involve a child under the age of ten.

Between May 2010 and April 2011 the amount of hospital admissions due to dog injuries was 6,120. This is quite an increase from the previous year’s total of 5,810. This amount accounts for half of all the admissions to hospitals that have been caused by being bitten or struck by various creatures.

The worst area for admissions for dog bites or other injuries was the North West with 1,090 admissions occuring here. The highest month for admissions was April 2011 with 640 cases, the highest monthly level for two years.
