The accident

We acted for Mrs C who was injured while walking from her property towards her vehicle parked in a car park owned her landlord. She lost her footing after stepping into a drain with a missing cover; not visible thanks to a pile of fallen leaves.

The injury

As a result of the accident, Mrs C jarred her spine and injured her left wrist, requiring immediate medical attention. It later appeared that Mrs C had sustained a soft tissue injury and would need between 6 to 12 months to recover.

How we helped claim compensation

We presented the claim to the landlord who failed to give any comment on liability. For over 6 months they refused to cooperate with us and so we were forced to apply to the court for assistance. The landlord eventually denied liability on the grounds that they had a reasonable system of inspection. However, we continued to pursue the claim and gathered all the evidence, including numerous witness statements. We were preparing to go to trial when the landlord decide to make an offer and Mrs C settled her claim for £3,900.
