Former glamour model and reality TV star Katie Price is allegedly going to sue LA hair dresser, Leo Journo, for damage caused to her hair by badly applied hair extensions.
Miss Price made an appointment with the salon to have her hair dyed from brunette to blonde and hair extensions put in her hair. The treatment cost £11,000 and meant that Miss Price was in the hair salon for 48 hours over 5 days.
It is alleged that the treatment was carried out by an alternative stylist as Miss Jurno was unavailable.
Miss Price was assured that the treatment would not damage her hair as the lightening method used by the salon did not contain bleach.
Apparently Miss Price said that the problems started whilst the treatment was being applied as her hair became brittle and started to snap off. The staff at the salon assured her that nothing was wrong.
On her return to the UK Miss Price noticed that her hair was breaking off and was being pulled away at the roots. She went to visit a UK hair dresser who advised that the extensions had been unevenly applied and that her hair was very weak from the colouring.
Miss Price was offered a refund of 50% by the salon but this offer was later withdraw. She is currently considering whether to take legal action.
Whilst it is true that, if over used, hair extensions can damage the hair when applied to healthy hair, extensions should not cause the problems such as those suffered by Miss Price.
