A teenage girl aged 14 was killed in a dog attack in Wigan when dogs attacked her at her friend’s house.
The girl was alone at her friends home eating a meat pie when four dogs, believed to be two bull mastiffs and two Staffordshire bull terriers, attacked her and killed her.
The police humanely put the dogs down at the scene when they arrived confronted by the aggressive dogs and found the girl’s dead body.
As the attack was on private property, the owner cannot be prosecuted under criminal law unless the dogs fall under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
This is not the first time killings have occurred as a result of a dog attack, with 5 others being killed on private property in the last 6 years and many more injured.
We act for a number of clients who have suffered injuries from dog bites. If you have been a victim of a dog attack you may be able to make a claim. It is important you get independent expert legal advice, preferably as soon as possible from one of our specialist lawyers.
